About Splash Out - Surf Experience...
Sea, Surfing & Sand, three of our favourite things. What could be better than spending a whole day messing around in the waves with a bunch of amazing children and their families.
At Splash Out we provide the opportunity to take indivduals with Autism Specturm Disorder and their families into the water to experience the thrill of surfing. Each child is paired with their own Surf Buddy, to guide them through their experience and contribute to the abundance of fun had by all. All experienced surf-lifesaving coaches, beach lifeguards and surf industry specialists from across the country, the participants really are in the best hands.
Splash Out not only offers surfing experiences but combines educational aspects of beach and water safety within a plethora of activities both in and on the water and shoreside.
All activities involved within Splash Out have been specifically designed with educational professionals to enable your child to feel safe, secure and to encourage bonding between them, other children, their surf buddy and family members. Typical activities include; wave riding, board paddling and beach games.
The Benefits...
Many children with ASD struggle with social interaction and restricted and fixated interests. An experience day such as Splash Out essentially provides a non-intrusive therapy due to activities combating many characteristics that people with ASD find difficult, if not impossible to overcome. By participating in a fun day, children recieve the opportunity to develop trust in their surf buddy, achieve abilities in activities many have never tried before whilst socialising fully with their families and peers.
Splash Out is an extrememly rewarding day, not only for the participants and their families but also for the team of volunteers who are able to pass on their love for what they do.
